The Highlanders or the Otago Highlanders is a professional rugby union team which plays Super Rugby competition each year. These days after the sponsor name they are known as “Pulse Energy Highlanders”. The rugby union is from New Zealand conference and based in Dunedin, NZ. The Highlanders official home ground is Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin with seating arrangements of 30,748 peoples at a time. The team is named “Highlanders” after the Scottish immigrants who found the Otago region and nearby in the 1840s to 1850s. The most caps (129 times) player of the team Ben Smith is the Captain of the side with Ash Dixon. Lima Sopoaga is the top scorer of the team with 866 points. The international former New Zealand rugby team player “Aaron Mauger” is the head coach of Landers.
In Super Rugby 2018 season, Highlanders qualified for the Quarter Final but lost it and remained on 6th place. The team was founded back in 1996 and since then they had seen lots of ups and downs. The Super Rugby event was also inaugurated in the same year, so Highlanders are also the Founding member. They have won a championship once a few years back in 2015 and were runners-up in 1999 hosted the final event.
