The Waratahs or the New South Wales Waratahs are Australian professional rugby union team which competes in Super Rugby. It is the Australian Conference team which locates in Sydney, New South Wales. Due to a big region of NSW, the team has multiple grounds in which they play their home games. This team was founded 137 years ago in 1882 and played their first Super Rugby game in 1996 (first season). Waratahs are nicknamed as Tahs, the team is named after NSW state flower Waratah. The Wallabies Captain Michael Hooper is also the captain of Waratahs. Former New Zealand player is Daryl Gibson is the current coach of the side. The Top scorer of the team is Matt Burke (1,172) and Benn Robinson (151) is the most caps player. Israel Folau with 58 tries is the most tries player of Waratahs.
The Semi-finalist of 2018 is Waratahs who lost to lions in playoffs, but they were top team of Australia conference. They had a great past record with winning the championship in 2014 and were Runners-up in 2005 and 2008. Waratahs clinches Australian Conference title thrice, in two consecutive seasons of 2014, 2015 and most recently in 2018. Also, have over half a dozen playoffs appearances since the event’s inception.
