The Rebels or Melbourne Rebels are the Australian professional rugby union which participated in Super Rugby since 2011. It was also known as the RaboDirect Melbourne Rebels after the sponsorship reasons. The team is based in Melbourne, which is in the Victorian region of Australia. Rebels play their home matches at AAMI Park, the ground has 30,000 seating arrangements for the viewers. Until 2017 it was the only rugby union that was privately owned but then shared with some Victorian union. The South African-born Australian player David Wessels is currently the head coach of Melbourne Rebels. Kevin Foote is the captain of the side and the top scorer of the team is Reece Hodge with 573. Reece Hodge with 100 times is the most caps player of the side.
The Melbourne Rebels were founded a few years back in 2010 and made their Super Rugby debut in the 2011 edition. The team hasn’t clicked so far in the event and remains at the bottom place overall. They aren’t much aware of the Super Rugby and gradually they are learning it and making a mark in the event. From time to time Rebels is improving and last season they were 2nd in the Australian Conference and 11th overall.
