Moana Pasifika is a professional Rugby Union team from New Zealand that consists of players from Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. Moana Pasifika is a new team, Established in 2020, and serves as a stepping stone for the Pacific Island rugby players to compete at the international level. The team was granted a license and permission to compete in the Super Pacific Rugby 2022 season, and they played their first match against Crusaders on 4 March 2022.

Chiefs is a professional Rugby Union team from New Zealand that has competed in the Super Rugby Pacific competition since its inception in 1996. Chiefs is one of the most successful teams in Super Rugby, having won the Super Rugby title twice and has been a regular finalist.
